Soft, gentle, fluid, mindful: Words we wouldn't normally
associate with a high-energy workout for seniors. Advertising
agencies and Hollywood have sold us on the idea that the
intensity and personality of the instructor is a measure of the
quality of a workout. Flashy sets, Hollywood glitter, punchy
music, and celebrity endorsements have been the selling points
for exercise programs. We have been trained to measure their
worth on these things. As if the eye candy they sell will
flatten your abs ...

Weight loss...if we could just find the right diet we would
achieve our goals, right? The sad truth is that weight loss
diets, for the most part, don't work and are becoming a thing of
the past. Research shows that 85-95% of dieters regain any
weight they've lost within 3-5 years. Most diets simply dictate
what to eat and how much, and usually don't teach us to make
better food choices once we go off. When we go back to our old
habits the weight comes back and we end up in a constant battle

Americans. I would attribute this to:

seem odd that something as apparently sedentary as writing can
help make a workout more effective. When you consider, however,
that without careful planning and constant tweaking, most
fitness routines will fail to achieve their desired results, ...

Let's face it, most people enjoy cardiovascular exercise as much
as a visit to the their oral surgeon - or - spending the weekend
with their in-laws. Most people's idea of the perfect
cardiovascular exercise program is walking from the bedroom to
the bathroom. If you want to decrease your body fat percentage,
get ripped, and have your waist, legs, and rear end look like a
million dollars, there is no substitution for cardio - but it
doesn't have to be boring and a major chore you hate.
